Feet: Turning out, Stretching, Morton's Neuroma, Fallen Arches, Plantar Fascitis

    For a foot or feet that turn out, feel for tightness in the Piriformis muscle on the side of the toes/foot flaring externally.

    If one or both of your feet turn in or out, make a conscious effort to stand, walk and exercise with your feet as straight as possible as often as possible. This will help rebalance unbalanced muscles in your lower extremities.

    Fill a big bin with dried rice and step in it (walk in place) to stretch your feet.

    For Morton's Neuroma, try using a metatarsal head pad/support.

    If you have weak or fallen arches, try this exercise:

    Keep your toes down while lifting your arches. Hold for three to five seconds then let your feet relax for three to five seconds. Repeat hundreds of times a day while sitting or standing. This strengthens the muscles responsible for holding your arches up.

    I've had plantar fasciitis for 18 years. Agony! I had orthotics made after standing on soft foam like you showed during the seminar. Since then, anytime I get a tingle in my heel, I always stretch my feet before standing or getting out of bed. I also stretch often during the day and never go barefoot. This helps make it go away.

    Some helpful Innovations for Plantar Fasciitis:

    1. Rolling your feet (while SITTING) over a wooden dowel, tennis ball or one of the old glass Coca Cola bottles.

    2. Pull and hold your feet toward your head with a belt, towel, or elastic tubing. Hold for a slow ten count then relax for a ten count. Repeat five or six times especially at night.

    3. Walking barefoot in soft sand or on thick grass turf.

    4. Squeezing, holding and lifting a wash cloth in the shower or bath or a newspaper while sitting.
